Samurai Kin: The Way of Life

The samurai were a class of warriors in feudal Japan who adhered to a strict code of conduct known as bushido, or «the way of the warrior.» This code emphasized loyalty, honor, and self-discipline, and guided every aspect of a samurai’s life.

Samurai were expected to be skilled in martial arts, poetry, and calligraphy, and to embody the virtues of courage, integrity, and compassion. They were also bound by a deep sense of duty to their lord and clan, and were willing to sacrifice their own lives for the greater good.

Despite their reputation as fierce warriors, samurai were also expected to cultivate a sense of refinement and aesthetic appreciation, often pursuing the arts and participating in tea ceremonies. This balance of strength and sensitivity, discipline and creativity, is what made the samurai such a unique and revered class in Japanese society.
